Welcome to Talent Media’s wHM Magazine 2018 a title for Women’s History Month incorporating International Women’s Day on the 8th March.
IWD / WHM became a global fixture on the international calendar at the turn of the century.
In this issue: This year, celebrating the centenary of the Women’s vote we pay tribute to the women of yesteryear’s suffrage movement with the Mayor of London’s #BehindEveryGreatCity campaign and the statue of Suffragist Millicent Fawcett to stand in Parliament square.
We hear from Dr Helen Pankhurst (Great Granddaughter of Emeline Pankhurst the leader of the Suffragettes) talking about how she will be marching with Care International in the footsteps of her ancestors with #March4Women on the 4th of March in solidarity with women everywhere marching for gender equality.
There is information on the Vote100 exhibition celebrating the centenary in Parliament as well as an article on the Representation of the People act 1918 – 100 years on.
We have a message from the Minister for Women and Equalities and the Mayor of London.
We talk to HSBC (our sponsors’) Balance network on equality in the workplace. We hear from the new East End Women’s Museum about how they are making a permanent home for women’s history.
Barnardo’s tell us about how they are fighting with the national FGM centre to end FGM and one of Barnardo’s Cymru directors gives us a personal insight into her journey with gender equality and the gender pay gap.
Planet nation tell us about their IWD Extravanganza on the 11th of March, creating a space for Trans and Cis LBQ women and, also working with stonewall, we feature a great article on their Come out for LGBT campaign and the gender recognition act.
